My Utopian Belle...........

Jus' one glimpse to kindle the flame,
Bet everyone here feels the same,
As we all so covertly express ourselves,
She sways and swirls with profound glee,
And we in our visions change into elves,
Bet u can't find people to disagree.........

She's so sweet and sober, unlike the winds of October,
I want to be with her, but my vision seems to blur,
Thinking of the skies above, she's like a white dove,
I'm perched atop an ant-hill, with miles above to fulfill...........

Jus' one glimpse to kindle the flame,
Bet everyone here feels the same,
That delicate hand held by another swain,
An avalanche of reactions, I try to entertain,
Rage, fury and hatred and deeper emotions,
Forceful as the cruelest and deepest oceans..........

She's so sweet and sober, unlike the winds of October,
I want to be with her, but my vision seems to blur,
Thinking of the skies above, she's like a white dove,
I'm perched atop an ant-hill, with miles above to fulfill...........

A boy's dream..........

Peeping thro' the nearby parapet,
Looking at the neighbour's daughter,
Who's in all bliss and laughter,
And his imagination begins to fret!

This is all about the fire and ice,
In the young lil' boy's eyes,
Teeming with life and blood,
As it very definitely should,
He wants to, but he can't scream,
This is every lil' boy's dream.........

Sitting on the couch in solitude,
Thinking of the hiked up skirt,
Drenched with sweat is his shirt,
In all this make-believe altitude!

This is all about the fire and ice,
In the young lil' boy's eyes,
Teeming with life and blood,
As it very definitely should,
He wants to, but he can't scream,
This is every lil' boy's dream.........

Dreaming about everything in peace,
The upholstery of the room comes in mind,
Wanting to be there from the rind,
He passes out with real ease!

This is all about the fire and ice,
In the young lil' boy's eyes,
Teeming with life and blood,
As it very definitely should,
He wants to, but he can't scream,
This is every lil' boy's dream.........

Spread your wings and fly away..........

Spread your wings and fly away,
Into the realm of the clouds,
For, Who knows, When mankind,
would be cast, into ever-binding moulds.

Spread your wings and fly high,
Be nothing, but a speck in the horizon,
For, Who knows, That might be your fate,
In this tainted land, my friend!

Spread your wings and soar above,
All the picturesque mountains and meandering streams,
For, Who knows, They might be nothing,
But, excavations beneath the sands of time.

Spread your wings and flap them hard,
Rekindle the sense of independence,
For, Who knows, Till when it'll last,
Only to be knaved, and the clock ticks....................

Still feels like the first exam of my life.........

(Meaning of the Archaic words used: Mote: Might, May ; Maketh: Makes ; Art: Are ; I used them just because of my affinity towards them!)

As I sit at the examination table,
My mind starts to wander,
I recollect old stories and fables,
All those little bits tender,
The hall seems to fade away,
I'm looking at myself so young.

Still feels like the First Exam of my life.

Me, Holding a pencil, Scratching my hair,
With Vinod sitting next to me,
This ain't a sight so rare,
This is the one which I often see.
Never rode my neighbour's horse,
Such innocence , We mote never see.

Still feels like the First Exam of my life.

A bigger me comes to my mind,
Harish, Sharath, Faraaz by my side,
Copying, Cheating, an altogether new find,
Never letting it take its hold,
Close to my heart my friends I hold,
A heart with complexities, increased manifold.

Still feels like the First Exam of my life.

I find myself riding my neighbour's horse,
While lending my own to other's cause,
The dare in me maketh me lie,
Lie to my own broken conscience,
Even with Rohan,Rakesh, Sambhav,Piyush,
Struggle to mend our broken wills.

Still feels like the First Exam of my life.

And now, I realise the situation,
I'm at place with 4000 fellow nerds,
I'm at a place which is my dream realised,
And still I'm short of words,
Who art the shoulders I'll rest on forever,
And I look at my paper, and conclude:
DESTINY CHOSE THE REAPER.

Still feels like the First Exam of my life.

NCC at IIT-B...........

National Cadet Corps at the prestigious IIT-B.............Most people would say, " Don't kid us! Do you think we would believe that the couch potatoes of IIT-B would withstand the wrath of army training?" But believe it or not, NCC was somewhat reinstated in 2005-2006 due to the efforts of Lt. Col. M.K.Pal, the present CO of the 2 MAH ENGINEER REGIMENT, after a long history which I'm not going to write here! Hats off to the man!

Might be, most of us are lazy when it comes to doing drills, but we are hardy enough to handle the training! After 4 months at NCC, it feels like I've done something most people haven't! I've learnt the art of doing something in a team. It sure feels good when someone hears a 100 feet hitting the ground at the same time!! Also, we have been given training on how to handle rifles. Doesn't that sound attractive?

Fresh from a 10 day NCC camp feels good. I agree it was hard work and that people not in NCC had 10 extra holidays, but trust me, IT WAS WORTH ALL THE WHILE! People might see us walking with a different kind of confidence in each stride! Each of Lt. Col. M.K.Pal's lectures were thought-inspiring and thought-provoking. I've learnt a lot from him. I can't stop admiring the man! He is a big man with great big plans for us cadets! Hope NCC benefits many of the students of IIT-B!

WE THE CADETS OF THE NCC, DO SOLEMNLY PLEDGE THAT WE SHALL ALWAYS UPHOLD THE UNITY OF INDIA.

WE RESOLVE TO BE DISCIPLINED AND RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS OF OUR NATION.

WE SHALL UNDERTAKE POSITIVE COMMUNITY SERVICE IN THE SPIRIT OF SELFLESSNESS AND CONCERN FOR OUR FELLOW BEINGS.

IIT-B===> Studded with STUDS!

Walking along the corridor of my dreams,
I realise, IT'S REALITY!
Can't believe I've made it through,
Need someone to pinch me.

As the lush greenery adds to its charm,
I'm enthralled by the beautiful birds,
Never smelt air this fresh, This clean,
My mind is all cleansed.

As I see people above me in the heirarchy,
The shine behind their eyes, says it all.
Can't help but admire them,
Want to emulate them.

Seeing muscular predecessors of mine,
Sweating out in various activities,
I see the picture of myself,
In the years to come.

I see an air of superior presence,
Of charm, Of glory, Of perseverance,
All around me,
That's IIT-B for ME!

IIT-B, My Home for the next 5 years........

All day I've been working like a dog,
I should be sleeping like a log............

That was The Beatles in one of their #1s. Let me tell you, this concept is not valid at IIT-B!

All day I've been working like a dog,
And now I'm stinking like a hog,
And still I keep on working,
Till the sandman comes and puts me to sleep!

That's life at IIT-B. Initially it feels like you are not going to get through this. By 'work' I don't mean studies, MIND YOU!!. In IIT-B, 'work' refers to every single activity inside the campus. In the beginning, I wanted to skip all these tiring activities. And then, what is the reason behind coming to IIT-B? Was it to just become an engineer? Or was it because the IITs are the best colleges for undergraduate studies in the country? Or was it because of the great affinity of today's youth towards money?

I accept that wealth is among the most important things in the world. But, my reason of coming here, was to develop my personality and character in a way so that people from other colleges go green with envy looking at me! And, the IITs are a haven of not just nerds, but of creative, hard working(Am I in?) nerds!

If anybody wants to think of the IITs as a place where the nerdiest nerds of the country come and mug all possible stuff for 4/5 years, THEY ARE DEFINITELY MISTAKEN!
BANDAR KYA JAANE ADRAK KA SWAD------------> A Hindi saying which refers to ignorance of people. The first part of their thought is right, the IITs are full of the nerdiest nerds of the country, but mugging is not all thats done here! Pick up any kind of activity(constructive I mean! ;)) and I can assure you, it is a part of IIT-B!

So, it sums up to, ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY. According to me, in IIT-B. leisure is work and work is leisure. I've learnt a lot of stuff here just in a month's time. I'm in love with this place, so bubbling with energy even when the owls rule!

Here I am, At a place so pure,
Of every single thing, I can be sure,
That it is for me to admire,
Here I am, This is where I want to be,
This is where I'll roam free,
I'll ride on the zephyr of change,
Till there come changes in change!

Wasn't that good? [;)]
